Central Indian Fare

Tips
The Central Indian States comprise of mainly Hindi speaking population, though slight variances do occur from state to state. These states mostly experience massive temperature changes, since they lie in the heart of the continent. Most of the the areas here are not close to watermasses. The people therefore have adapted their habits to the changing seasons, and their life, food habits, clothing, etc. mould accordingly.

Though the gentlemen in these regions are partial to crisp white kurta pajamas, they top them up with exquisite 'bandis' or vests, to keep warm in the early winters. Full winters bring out intricately embroidered shawls and long coats among both the sexes.

Ladies wear brightly coloured clothing which comprise of saris, ghaghra cholis or full skirts with blouses and dupattas, etc. which have marginal difference as the states change.

Though the food eaten by most of the central indian regions have mostly similarities, especially in vegetarian fare, there are flavours and dishes, better known to particular states.

Pan is a favourite meal ender, here, which comprises of betel leaf, supari, chuna, and other condiments.

Many of them consume forms of tobacco in this form, which is highly injurious to health.

Many recipes from this region have been covered in sections like ' sweets', 'vegetables', 'rices', etc.>

Thandai (without bhang, a form of drug) which is a favourite summer drink of the people is very tasty and nutritious. Refer section on summersips and soups. Rich and tasty, elaborate and widely varying in spices, at the same time simple and scrumptious too, is the fare of the Central Indian States like Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Bihar.
