- Goans are a people with a rich history and culture from centuries, where influences of external invasions, foreign visitors and nature have been much more than the rest of the Indian subcontinent.
- The French, the Portuguese, the English, and many more have had great impact on the goanese people, their lifestyle, cuisine and even dialect.
- Goanese are hardworking coastal people, with a majority business of fishing, but tourism forms an equally important source of income here. Foreign tourists consider their visit to India incomplete if they have not visited this small beautiful territory, idyllic for holidays of golden sun and bleached sandy beaches. Though the people here are mainly nonvegetarian, fish eaters, there are few vegetarian dishes which are delectable, and very easy to make compared to the nonvegetarian food.
- Goans love colourful clothes like brightly coloured wraps and kurthas by ladies, and colourful bandanas and hats favoured by the menfolk. Shirts are also colourful, with prints of the beaches, palms, bikiniclad beauties, etc.
- Goans are also lovers of alcoholic drinks, but more so of cashew feni, wines of exotic value, and toddy from the local toddy palms.
