Ugadi/Gudi Padwa Dishes
Majjige Huli / Mor Kozhambhu
This recipe is vegetable (pumpkin, okra, beans) cooked is buttermilk. Known as Majjige Huli in karnataka and Mor Kozhambhu in Andhra Pradesh.

Ingredients

100 gms lady fingers
2 cups sour buttermilk
2 tbsp oil

Grind together:
4-5 green chillies
1/2" ginger
3/4 cup grated coconut
2 tbsp channa dal (soaked for 1 hour in water)
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp mustard seeds
1 tbsp jeera
1 tbsp corriander powder
Salt as per taste

Method:

  1. Cut lady finger into 1" pieces
  2. Heat oil in a kadai
  3. Stir fry lady fingers till tender
  4. Drain and keep aside
  5. Pour butter ilk in the kadai
  6. Bring it to boil, stirring continuously
  7. Add the grinded paste, and stir continuously
  8. Add 1/4 cup water, and let it cook for another 10-15 minutes
  9. Add fried okra, and let it simmer for another 5 minutes
  10. Garnish with corriander leaves
  11. Serve hot with roti

Makes: 3 servings
